Photography & Videography

Welcome

Kstv.site is an extension of my Instagram profile. Here you’ll see some of my favorites from my IG account and more. Browse and enjoy. Hit me up if you like my work or would like to reach out with a project in mind.

My Passion

I’ve been involved in music and art all my life. From oil paintings and watercolor paintings to the bands I played in to the various groups I sang in (Madrigals, etc.). I have always noticed what many would pass by everyday without a second thought, the colors in the world, the fluffy clouds in the sky, the dark foreboding clouds during a thunderstorm. From the obvious to the subtle, I am deeply grateful for the talents God has given me and the 5 senses to enjoy them.

My Inspiration

Heavily influenced by and a great admirer of Ansel Adams, Peter McKinnon, Tony & Chelsea Northrup, Jason Lanier, Devan Jovey, Chris Hau, Aldren Estacio, Matti Haapoja, Pierre T. Lambert, Gerald Undone, Nigel Dansen, Serge Ramelli, Mike Smith, Jason Vong and a whole host of others who constantly teach willingly on YouTube and in so doing inspire a whole generation of digital artists. Cheers!

Shoot the location you’re at with the gear you have.

I follow Instagramers from all over the world and for most of us, we can’t travel full time. I am fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and that is certainly helpful. But I have also learned to shoot what you have when you’re there, you’ll never regret it. Even if it’s an old sign with grafitti sprayed all over it, everything is a subject, everything has artistic potential, everything is a learning experience. Wherever you are, just shoot. Whatever you have, just shoot with it. Some of my best shots are spontaneously taken from my iPhone. Composition and lighting are king, the camera is secondary. I have a long way to go – I still take way more crappy pics than good ones, but I learn from my mistakes and I learn from the best of the best on IG and Youtube.
You can too.

Prints

A small selection of my work can be purchased as prints for framing and hanging. Some, like the image to the left in Pacific Grove, California will soon be available as a backlit piece of art similar to the backlit posters you see in the theaters. Due to the high contrast in images like this one, backlighting is ideal for a stunning showpiece.

Drone Videography and Photography

I’ve been flying drones for just over 2 years now. I’ve logged over 140hrs of flight time and learned a lot from the experience. Chief among those lessons is to always take to the skies with knowledge of where you are (airspace class), where you’ll be flying, expected weather conditions and what hazards may present themselves at any time. I’ve been blessed to capture some unique moments, from a pod of gray whales, to beautiful sunrises to crazy ocean and water scenes. Drone’s present a unique view of the world and I am thrilled to bring you a few of my favorite images and videos captured with my drones.

Droneography

{

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,

 And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

 Sunwards I’ve climbed and joined the tumbling mirth

 Of sun-split clouds – and done a thousand things

 You have not dreamed of – wheeled and soared and swung

 High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there,

 I’ve chased the shouting wind along and flung

 My eager craft through footless halls of air,

 Up, up the long delirious burning blue

 I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

 Where never lark, or even eagle, flew;

 And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod

 The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

 Put out my hand, and touched the face of god.
